The Wetlanders

Nearby the raging sea, lies a palace of water and trees.

She has battled storms of our past, but wounded to her very last.

We must protect her crown, or else our towns and cities will drown.

We must rebuild her wall of trees, to withstand against Poseidon’s fury.

Her kingdom holds a wildlife town, yet we tend to just tear them down.

Reptiles, birds, and amphibians too, I am sure none prefer the zoo.

If I still hear her faded cry, I will neither give up nor let it die.

So I will form an army one by one, who will get the job done.

They will come by the thousands, all dedicated to the wetlands.

So here we are him and hers, an army known only as the wetlanders.

We won’t fight to be prime, all that matters is to be there on time.

Since time is passing by, we need to be ready for June and July.

Only a day of Katrina tore up coast, if that happens again we’ll be toast.

Now the storms are even worse, all thanks to the warming of Earth.

The storms are stronger and there are more, save the wetlands save the shore.

Our need for them we can not measure, this is why wetlands I do treasure.

So how can we just sit about, “Save the wetlands” we should shout.
